Our son-in-law loves fishing. He decided to take his four-year old daughter fishing. They went to the lake to fish from a fishing barge. The granddaughter had never been fishing, so we wondered how she would enjoy the fishing excursion. When they came back, they stopped by our place.
Our four-year old granddaughter came in the door very excited, with her father right behind her. She stopped in front of me and with a gleam in her eyes said, “We’ve been fishing.”
She must have enjoyed it. I asked, “Where did you go?”
She replied, “To the lake where that big boat is.”
Her father said, “The fishing barge at the lake.”
Our granddaughter said, “We fished on the boat.”
I teasingly said, “You can catch fish on the boat? I thought fish lived in the water.”
She looked exasperated, as she said, “No! We were on the boat and we caught fish in the lake!”
I asked, “Did you catch anything?”
She grinned and said, “Yep!”
I then asked, “What did you catch?”
“We caught some crock pots,” she replied.
“You caught WHAT?”
I looked at her father with a puzzled look. He grinned and said, “We caught a few Crappie.”
The granddaughter looked at him and said, “WELL!! That’s just short for Crock Pot!”
