Mom and Dad visited my youngest sister at college and attended church with her on Sunday morning. Dad arranged for another minister to preach that morning at his home church. They were driving home Sunday afternoon because Dad planned to preach that evening.
As Dad stopped at a stoplight, he saw a large truck coming downhill towards them. When the truck began to slow, a wheel came off the trailer, rolling towards the center of Dad’s front bumper. With nowhere to go, he and Mom stared at a huge truck-trailer wheel about to crash into their car.
Dad prayed, “Lord, thy will be done.”
Just before the speeding wheel reached the front of their car, it hit a rock or something in the street. The wheel bounded up and over the car, hit the pavement behind the car and smashed into a building.
The truck driver and a passerby ran to Dad’s car, asking if they were okay. Dad replied, “We’re ok, but what made that wheel bounce over us?”
They looked around in front of the car and did not find anything that the wheel could have hit causing it to jump over the car. Dad realized that God had intervened and immediately thanked Him that they were spared. If the truck-trailer wheel had hit the car it would have injured or killed them.
When Dad preached that night and told about the incident, several came forward to re-dedicate their lives. What a wonderful example of how awesome God is.
